In 2012, once a week I went to buy fruit and vegetables at Mi Ranchito, a local fruit store. San Francisco’s Mission district is packed with interesting, yet often overlooked stores like this one. I became friends with staff – Ali and Aysha – and learned a bit about their business and customers. Occasionally I also drew there.

Together with paintings from reference I assembled this

16 page visual reportage

about this store as an example of shopping fruit and veg in the Mission for you!

  1. Looks great! I can’t wait to read/view/enjoy it. Unfortunately the “Donate” button links to an all German version of PayPal that I can’t read. At all! Tried, but keep making mistakes. Would you please add an English language link for those of us without German fluency? Much thanks!

    • Thanks for pointing this out virtual Davis!
Turns out if you are visiting my site in Firefox you will get linked to an all English version, if you are in Safari, you will get redirected to an all German version of Paypal. I don’t know why, but if you can switch browser that should take care of it.
I haven’t tried any other browsers. Let me know how it goes!
