On average 10-20 houses in the Mission catch fire every year. There is a growing sentiment that the fires are not accidents. Scrupulous landlord, tied by rent control laws, are suspected to cash in on the growing rental prices. Although Fire Department officials deny that notion, residents in the neighborhood stay suspicious.
One of the latest fires happened right around my home. A tire shop burned to the ground. The area now gets redeveloped, urging me to no longer delay making a record. I drew the damage still visible on the neighboring house. A passerby offered his opinion that I included in the drawing.

Examine your drawing carefully! Who knows – you might have unwittingly drawn the culprit, lurking to observe the results of his/her handiwork… 😉
(Sounds like a movie plot. Artist unknowingly draws culprit into his painting, then is “drawn” into the criminal proceedings [pun intended]. Someone’s probably already made it.)
Ah, I was there way to late for that. The culprit would have needed to lurk for months :-). But who knows…
