Art, craft and techno

.

Curious friends of my pen,

.

early summer has arrived in San Francisco. The sun is laughing and short sleeves are all one needs. This weekend your visual flaneur celebrated life wearing a straw hat and sipping white wine in the middle of the day. Cheers to all of you!

Today I visited several (!)  festivals. First the artsy CAPSULE Design Street Festival in Hayes valley. A mellow, crafty event where families sip coffee and browse the t-shirt stalls, I had brought a mat and made myself comfortable.  Stretched out, I sketched the laughing and chatting crowd passing me by.

On the other side of that tree, a band with a very energetic female singer entertained everyone around. I had an interesting back view of them.

As me and E. moved on we were curious to take a peek at another event taking place in the city today.

The HOW WEIRD festival had a decidedly different vibe. Loud techno music and a party crowd  ***  as a kite danced their high heels of on the streets. Extravagant costumes made of variable amounts of fabric swirled in the air and left your visual flaneur dizzy.

.

I don’t think my modest rendering does the vibe of the scene full justice. But a lady wearing a featherboa and her friend in cape and tights is a start. May the rest be left to your imagination …

Now go and discover a little bit of what’s out there for yourself,

your visual flaneur.
